In the event of damage or loss of a retainer, bracket, or archwire, we kindly ask you to schedule an appointment with our office as soon as possible.

An orthodontic emergency service is available in Berlin on weekends, public holidays, and days between public holidays and weekends.

A bracket has come loose Loose bracket
If the bracket is still attached to the rubber or wire ligature and causes no discomfort, it can usually remain until your next appointment. Please inform us nonetheless so that sufficient time can be scheduled for your next visit. If the loose bracket is bothering you, please make an appointment promptly.

Please contact the practice and schedule an appointment. If the practice cannot be reached, the irritating spot can temporarily be with Protective wax be covered. If this does not help sufficiently, the information of the orthodontic emergency service is available to you.
Wire slipped out of bracket or band Wire end in the rear area
If the slipped-out wire end is not bothersome, you can wait until your next appointment if necessary. The wire end can be temporarily covered with protective wax. In case of discomfort, please schedule an appointment.
Sensitive teeth After insertion or archwire change
Increased sensitivity may occur in the first two to three days after getting braces. During this time, soft foods are recommended. If the sensitivity does not improve after two to three days, please make an appointment.
Sores on the oral mucosa Pressure marks or chafing areas
Please contact the office if you experience bothersome sore spots. Rinsing with Kamillosan or chamomile tea as well as covering irritated areas with protective wax can alleviate the discomfort until the next available appointment.
The bonded retainer has come loose fixed retainer
If the fixed retainer has come loose, an appointment should be made promptly so that the tooth position changes as little as possible.
Problems with removable braces
Even with removable braces, the clinic should be notified in the event of damage, loss, or persistent discomfort.
Braces or wire is broken Damaged apparatus
Please do not continue wearing the damaged orthodontic appliance and schedule an appointment for a check-up.
Braces are pressing or falling out Fit is incorrect
If the orthodontic appliance no longer fits properly, causes severe pressure, or repeatedly falls out, please do not attempt to adjust it yourself any further and contact the practice.

After adjusting the braces, a temporary feeling of pressure on the teeth may occur. This should normally subside within one to two days. If discomfort persists, please contact the office.
The braces are lost Replacement required
Please contact the practice and schedule an appointment to have a new retainer made. Coverage of the costs can be clarified with the health insurance company depending on the situation.
